The present invention provides a wavy coulter having a plurality of variable--amplitude waves, each wave defined by a crest and an adjacent valley. The coulter is mounted on an implement such that a leading peripheral edge of the coulter rotates in a downward direction as it enters the soil. The waves having larger amplitudes of deviation from flat provide a driving force for turning the variable wave coulter. The waves having smaller amplitudes of deviation from flat provide penetration into the soil. The result is a coulter that is forgiving in both wet and dry soil conditions.

La présente invention concerne un coutre à ondulations muni d'une pluralité d'ondulations d'amplitude variable, chaque ondulation étant définie par une crête et un creux adjacent. Le coutre est monté sur un accessoire de sorte que le bord d'attaque périphérique du coutre tourne vers le bas à mesure qu'il pénètre dans le sol. Les ondulations de plus forte amplitude de déviation que les ondes plates impriment une force d'entraînement pour faire tourner le coutre à ondulations variables. Les ondulations de plus faible amplitude de déviation permettent une pénétration dans le sol. Il en résulte un coutre efficace dans des conditions de sol sec et humide.
