VARIABLE WEIR ASSEMBLY FOR DRILLING RIG SUMP SYSTEMS AND METHOD OF USE THEREOF ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The weir assembly comprises a solid wall member having a vertical array of ports extending therethrough. The ports are controlled with individual hinged doors that can be opened or closed from ground surface, even though the door may be submerged. The weir assembly is used to closely control the elevation of the overflow level from one sump pit to another. By use of the adjustable weir, the operation of a rig sump system can be closely controlled to minimize the amount of liquid left in the sumps at the end of drilling.
