VASCULAR CATHETER WITH DURABLE LUBRICIOUS COATING ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A vascular catheter, particularly a dilatation catheter for angioplasty procedures, having bonded onto the surface thereof a durable lubricious coating. The coating preferably has two layers, a first polymer layer such as polysiloxane comprising a three-dimensional network of polymer units, which is bonded to the catheter surface, and a second lubricious layer such as silicone oil which is bonded to the first layer. Substantial reductions in frictional coefficients and effective profiles are obtained.
