The invention pertains to a vascular prosthesis for replacement of blood vessels in the human or animal body, consisting of a section of replacement blood vessel (3) removed from a human or animal body and, drawn over this section of vessel, a reticulate tube whose tube-forming, criss-crossing threads (1) wind around the longitudinal axis of the tube in spiral fashion. The vascular prosthesis is characterized in that the reticulate tube (2) is longitudinally stretched or compressed at points of change in diameter along the replacement vessel (3) and as a result lies evenly with full-surface contact on the replacement vessel.

L'invention concerne une prothèse vasculaire servant à remplacer des vaisseaux sanguins chez l'homme ou chez l'animal, qui comprend une section de vaisseau sanguin de substitution (3) prélevée chez l'homme ou chez l'animal autour de laquelle est tiré un filet tubulaire (2) qui l'entoure. Les fils (1) croisés qui forment ce filet tubulaire (2) progressent en lignes hélicoïdales autour de son axe longitudinal. La prothèse vasculaire se caractérise en ce que le filet tubulaire (2) peut être étiré ou comprimé par endroits, dans le sens longitudinal sur le vaisseau sanguin de substitution, pour s'adapter aux variations de diamètre dudit vaisseau sanguin de substitution, ce qui lui permet d'en épouser pleinement la configuration.
