It is intended to provide a vasodilator having a vascular endothelium-dependent vasodilating action, a preventive agent for arteriosclerosis, and a functional food having a vascular endothelium-dependent vasodilating action which can be continuously used on a daily basis and is excellent in safety. The vasodilator and the functional food of the invention are characterized by comprising, as an active ingredient, at least one of tripeptides of Val Pro Pro and Ile Pro Pro or a protein degradation product containing Val Pro Pro and/or Ile Pro Pro.
