Method for producing vaterite wherein a mixture of particles containing calcium in oxide and/or hydroxide form is treated in a reactive medium containing an acid salt of an organic amine in order to transform the calcium in soluble salt form and to obtain a medium whose pH, the so called process pH, has a value higher than 10. CO2 is introduced in the medium subjected to stirring until the pH of the medium reaches a so called saturation pH of a value close to 0.83 x process pH, and CO2 is intro- duced at a flow rate lower than 50g CO2/hour/litre in the medium so as to form the substantially spherical vaterite. (57) Abrégé Procédé de fabrication de vatérite, dans lequel on traite un mélange de particules contenant du calcium sous forme d'oxyde etéou d'hydroxyde dans un milieu réactionnel contenant un sel acide d'une amine organique de manière à transformer le calcium sous forme de sel soluble et à obtenir un milieu dont le pH dit pH de traitement a une valeur supérieure à 10; on introduit du CO2 dans le milieu soumis à une agitation jusqu'à ce que le pH du milieu atteigne un pH dit de saturation dont la valeur est proche de 0,83 x pH de traitément, et on introduit du CO2 à un débit inférieur à 50g CO2/heure/litre dans le milieu de ma- nière à former de la vatérite sensiblement sphérique.
