A cutter is provided, particularly suitable for cutting fruits, vegetables, and especially potatoes. The cutter has a frame which holds a slide plate leading to a knife blade. Both the slide plate and knife blade are formed with a number of parallel three-sided channels. The sides of each channel are equal in size, and adjacent sides are positioned about 120° apart. The slide plate and knife blade are relatively positioned in an offset manner so that the respective channels cooperatively form a number of hexagonal cutting openings, as viewed in a cutting direction along the channels.
