The invention is a ski wax and/or method of preparing ski wax that does not utilize conventional hydrocarbon materials. The invention contains hydrogenated vegetable glycerides and additional biodegradable components. Petroleum-product free, the invention can be applied to snow ski and snowboard bases to improve lubricity and glide in a variety of on-slope climatic and snow conditions. The invention can be applied by way of traditional hot-waxing techniques.
