An over the highway truck or tractor a battery assembly is disclosed. The assembly includes a plurality of storage batteries arranged in side by side relationship. Each of the batteries has upstanding positive and negative posts. Positive and negative aperture, rigid and conductive straps, interconnect the batteries with each of the posts projecting through. an associated, aperture of the strap having like polarity. A plurality of conductive fasteners each threadedly engage an associated post and engage the associated strap to establish an electrically conductive relationship between each post and its associated strap to clamp the straps against the batteries to electrically connect the batteries in parallel and maintain the side by side relationship.
