A vehicle closure slam test fixture for use with a simulated closure having a latch, includes an external slide slideably mounted between two surfaces, a first spring-dampener pair disposed between the external slide and one of the two surfaces and an internal slide slideably mounted in relation to the external slide and biased against a side of the external slide closest to the first spring-dampener pair, by a second spring-dampener pair, the internal slide including a striker mounted thereto A stop is provided for stopping movement of the external slide in a rebound direction after an impact. The internal slide and external slide move together in an impact direction while the first spring-dampener pair absorbs impact energy and the internal slide moves in the rebound direction while the second spring-dampener pair absorbs rebound energy.
