A vehicle component with visually enhanced design and a method of making the vehicle component. The vehicle component has a plate portion with a display face and an opposed face. There is a stamped design comprising a raised outer portion and a lower inner portion on the display face of the plate portion, such that the raised outer portion extends outward from the opposed face. A decal is positioned on the lower inner portion of the stamped design, the decal having a size and shape substantially the same as the lower inner portion, the decal being attached by adhesive.
