Apparatus for use in an area of vehicular traffic is disclosed. The area is of the type having a vehicle receiving area whereat a stream of vehicles arrive, randomly spaced-apart from one another in time and further having a point to which vehicles travel from the vehicle receiving area. The apparatus comprises a transport device adapted to transport vehicles, in use, from the receiving area to the point at independently variable rates of speed to permit vehicles to be turned off at the receiving area while maintaining a flow of vehicles, spaced-apart from one another, to the point. The point can be a pinch point, whereat the speed of vehicular travel is constrained. The apparatus can form part of a drive- through restaurant, wherein the drive-through window defines the pinch point in use.
L'invention concerne un appareil destiné à être utilisé dans une zone de circulation de véhicules. La zone est du type comportant une zone de réception des véhicules au niveau de laquelle arrive un flux de véhicules espacés aléatoirement les uns par rapport aux autres dans le temps, et comportant en outre un point vers lequel les véhicules avancent à partir de la zone de réception des véhicules. L'appareil comprend un dispositif de transport prévu pour transporter des véhicules, en utilisation, de la zone de réception au point en question à des niveaux de vitesse variables indépendamment pour permettre à des véhicules d'être arrêtés au niveau de la zone de réception tout en maintenant un flux de véhicules, espacés les uns par rapport aux autres, jusqu'au point en question. Ce point peut être un point d'étranglement au niveau duquel la vitesse d'avance des véhicules est limitée. L'appareil peut faire partie d'un restaurant avec service en voiture, la fenêtre de défilement des voitures définissant le point d'étranglement en utilisation.
