ABSTRACT A cartridge assembly for a vehicle door, comprising a supporting member having a hinge means attached to one end of the member for movably mounting the member to a vehicle door frame which defines a doorway, and an operating mechanism attached to the member for supporting a window glass for movement in opposite directions relative to the supporting member. A vehicle door is described comprising the cartridge assembly which is slideably accommodated within a cavity in a door shell. The door is assembled by first hinging the cartridge assembly to the vehicle door frame and thereafter sliding the door shell onto the cartridge assembly.
