ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A vehicle emergency signal device comprises a box-like enclosure of moulded plastics material having a front plate which is partially translucent and which carries letters readily visible when the translucent surface is illuminated from inside the enclosure, and a base plate connected to the front plate and having a mounting for light bulbs which are capable of illuminating all of the letters. A flasher unit is mounted on the inside of the base plate, and is connected by cables to a plug suitable for insertion into a vehicle cigarette lighter socket. The signalling device may be connected to the vehicle by hooks which extend from the upper part of the enclosure to vehicle trim or the like above a vehicle window so that the front plate is visible through the window.
