Abstract of the Disclosure A front wheel drive reverse acceleration control system for a vehicle having a main rear wheel drive and an assisting hydraulically powered front wheel drive. A hydraulic pump is connected by a hydraulic circuit to a hydraulic motor at each driven front wheel. A clutch between the hydraulic motor and the associated wheel facilitates rotation of the driven front wheel. A motion sensing device is mounted to sense rotation of the main rear wheel drive and each driven front wheel. A vehicle brake sensor is actuated when the vehicle operator applies the brake. A reverse gear sensor is actuated when the operator puts the gear selector in reverse. A reverse accelerate control is connected to the motion sensing device, the brake sensor and the reverse gear sensor. This control is operable to cause the hydraulic motors to operate at a substantially increased rate in reverse motion temporarily when the vehicle is in reverse gear and begins reverse motion.
