An apparatus for restarting a frozen vehicle comprises an insulated tarpaulin which is shaped to drape over the vehicle so as to substantially coverthe whole of the vehicle down to the ground. The forward section of the tarpaulin is generally conical in shape so as to extend forwardly from the vehicle to define an opening into which a tubular propane heater is inserted. The propane heater is inclined forwardly towards the vehicle and downwardly towards the ground for injecting heat particularly into the area of the engine compartment.
