A method of identifying an object comprising a vehicle (50) having on a surface thereof at least one layer of pain (52, 54, 56), such as a urethane- based paint. A unique alphanumeric identification (30) is applied to the paint layer (56) with a fluorescent material (40) at a selected unrevealed location thereon. The fluorescent material (40) is permitted to migrate into the at least one paint layer (52, 54, 56), while an excess amount of fluorescent material (40a) remains on the at least one paint layer (52, 54, 56). Thereupon, the excess amount of fluorescent material (40a) is removed from the at least one paint layer (52, 54, 56). Thereupon, the excess amount of fluorescent material (40a) is removed from the at least one paint layer (52, 54, 56) with a solvent. The unique discrete identification (30) created by fluorescent material (40~) migrated into the at least one paint layer (52, 54, 56) is visible at an acute angle to the object surface (58) without use of an ultraviolet light, while being substantially invisible at an angle normal to the object surface (58).
L'invention porte sur un procédé d'identification d'un objet tel qu'un véhicule sur la surface duquel on applique au moins une couche de peinture telle qu'une peinture à base d'uréthane. On applique une identification alphanumérique unique sur la couche de peinture avec un matériau fluorescent à un endroit sélectionné non exposé. Le matériau fluorescent peut migrer dans au moins une couche de peinture, une quantité excédentaire de ce matériau fluorescent restant sur ladite couche de peinture. Cette quantité excédentaire de matériau fluorescent est ensuite retirée de ladite couche de peinture avec un solvant. L'identification unique discrète créée par le matériau fluorescent ayant migré dans la couche de peinture est visible au niveau d'un angle aigu par rapport à la surface de l'objet sans utiliser de lumière ultraviolette, et tout en étant quasiment invisible au niveau d'un angle perpendiculaire à la surface de l'objet.
