Case 2955 VEHICLE LAMP SYSTEM Abstract of the Disclosure A vehicle lamp system makes provision for a pair of daytime running lights. While the system particularly lends itself to dual filament sealed beam lamps, in which one of the filaments in a lamp is used for running light purposes, it may also be incorporated with a system using replaceable bulb units. In view of the safety aspects involved a particular control switch system is used, in order to assure automatic employment of the lights when the vehicle is driven during daylight hours. In particular, the arrangement encourages the adoption of a four-lamp system. In order to promote running light longevity in excess of the life expectation of the other lamp filaments of the system, the running lamp filaments are connected in series relation which promotes long life while supplying an appropriate light intensity. By combining the subject running light filaments in a dual beam lamp construction, in which the second filament is for "low" beam illumination, in a four-lamp arrangement the high beam provisions for the system can be provided by lamps dedicated to high beam usage.
