The invention relates to a vehicle light, particularly a side marker light for a motor vehicle, comprising at least one light source and at least one optical system (6a, 6b) that is placed in the beam path of the light source. According to the invention, the essentially conical light beam emitted from the light source directly impinges upon the optical system (6a, 6b) and shines therethrough, whereby the optical system (6a, 6b) is designed so that it produces a cruciform distribution of light from said light beam.
