ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides an axle load weight indicating apparatus comprising a sensor for sensing relative movement between a stationary part and a moving part of a vehicle which controls the position of a beam of light incident on a light-dependent potentiometer. The signal from the potentiometer varies the mark/space ratio of an output pulse train to a detector. The detector is signalled to provide an indication when the mark/space ratio reaches a preset value.
