The invention relates to an acoustically optimizable and aesthetically resistant vehicle rooflining (2) and to a method for producing the same. An air-permeable support layer (3) comprises a first air-permeable reinforcement layer (4) with a non-air-permeable back layer (9) on the vehicle roof side and a second air-permeable reinforcement layer (5) with an air-permeable decorative layer (6) on the passenger compartment side. The individual layers are interconnected by an air-permeable adhesive (7). A semipermeable and migration-resistant barrier layer (8) is provided between the second air- permeable reinforcement layer (5) and the decorative layer (6). This barrier layer (8) is designed in such a way as to produce an air-flow resistance of 500Nsm-3 < Rt < 2500Nsm-3, especially of 900Nms-3 < Rt < 1900Nsm-3.
