The vehicle seat belt gripping with energy absorbing device, or The VES, is a safety device attached to a vehicle along a vertical portion of the seat belt to restrain the seat belt and prevent vehicle occupants from being thrown forward to vehicular frontal components during crash situations. The VES includes a housing, a seat belt gripping wall, and a seat belt gripping assembly. When activated as the vehicle abruptly decelerates upon occurrence of a collision, the gripping assembly of the VES moves to engage with the seat belt and grips it with an increasing holding force, allowing the seat belt to slowly maw an additional distance before putting an end to the forward movement. As a result, the seat belt protracting speed is greatly reduced, and vehicle occupants are protected from smashing violently onto airbag, dashboard, or steering wheel during vehicle crash situations.
