The present invention relates to a vehicle sunroof having variable optical transmission and a method for making the same. Specifically, a vehicle sunroof is provided that, in accordance with the present invention, comprises a relatively thin film (12) having variable optical transmission and a relatively thick substrate (14) layer of clear plastic material adhered to a surface of the relatively thin film. The relatively thin film (12) is positioned ina first molding die (24) of a pair of injection molding dies such that it is adjacent a surface of the first die. The relatively thick substrate layer (14) is adhered to one surface of the relatively thin film while in contact therewith in a molten state under heat and pressure within a cavity defined by the injection molding dies (24, 28).

La présente invention se rapporte à un toit ouvrant destiné à un véhicule et présentant une transmission optique variable, ainsi qu'à un procédé de fabrication de celui-ci. Le toit ouvrant de l'invention comprend notamment un film (12) relativement mince, présentant une transmission optique variable, ainsi qu'une couche substrat (14) relativement épaisse en matériau plastique transparent que l'on a fait adhérer à une surface du film. On place ce film (12) dans une première filière (24) de moulage d'une paire de filières de moulage par injection, de manière à ce qu'il soit adjacent à une surface de la première filière. On fait adhérer la couche substrat (14) relativement épaisse à une surface du film en les mettant ensemble en contact, la couche support étant à l'état fondu, sous des conditions de chaleur et de pression, dans une cavité délimitée par les filières (24, 28) de moulage par injection.
