Selectively engagable auxiliary leaf springs (38) for vertically supporting a vehicle chassis (32) on an axle assembly (22) in parallel with main suspensionsprings (34). Forward and rear ends (38b,38a) of the auxiliary leaf springs are pivotally attached to the vehicle chassis and the axle assembly, and pivotal movement of the forward ends (38b) is inhibited or prevented by engagement of actuator assemblies (56 or 100 or 170) to engage the auxiliary leaf springs. A control system automatically angages the actuator assemblies in response to load added to the vehicle and/or vehicle steering movement and/or rapid vehicle acceleration.
Cette invention concerne des ressorts à lames auxiliaires (38) participant au besoin au supportage vertical d'un élément de châssis sur un essieu (22), en parallèle avec les ressorts de suspension principaux (34). Les ressorts à lames auxiliaires sont articulés par les deux bouts (38b, 38a) au châssis et à l'essieu respectivement, le pivotement des bouts antérieurs (38b) étant restreint ou empêché par des limiteurs de débattement (56 ou 100 ou 170) poussant contre les ressorts auxiliaires. Un système de commande actionne automatiquement les limiteurs de débattement à l'ajout d'une charge supplémentaire sur le véhicule et/ou à l'occasion d'une manoeuvre de braquage des roues ou d'une accélération brutale.
