ABSTRACT A trailer that has a trailer bed made from a composite material. More specifically, the trailer bed has a core of end grain balsa wood blocks sandwiched between upper and lower layers of composite material and supporting I beams that are integrally molded into the lower layer of composite material. A king pin, landing gear, and suspension are welded to the frame. The truck is manufactured by placing a mold on a substantially horizontal surface and passing an impregnator over that surface thereby simultaneously impregnating a fiberglass cloth and laying the cloth into the mold. The core is then laid on that first layer of composite material and the automatic impregnator is passed over the table again thereby laying a second layer of composite material. The I beams are then set on the second layer of composite material and small strips of composite material are laid over the flanges of the I beams thereby integrally molding the I beams into the trailer bed.
