The invention concerns a vehicle wheel suspension (51) using a screw spring (52) and a flexible retaining and connecting armouring (53), which in working position, stresses a portion of the spring (52) by maintaining it compressed, for obtaining two different stiffness curves the reversal point of which is located in the vicinity of the working position; when there is compression, the screw spring assembly (52) is compressed whereas when there is strain relief, only the non stressed portion of said spring (52) is decompressed, the suspension being asymmetrical with strain relief stiffness which is greater than the compression stiffness. Each armouring (53) is made up of two fixing elements, one (54) co-operating with the whole or part of a spire of the screw spring (52), the other (56) co-operating either with the whole or part of another spire of said spring (52), or with the shock absorber body (59) and of a longitudinal element (55) capable of being deformed in compression but not so in strain relief, integral with the two fixing elements, the armouring (53) enclosing and stressing at least two spires of the screw spring (52).

Suspension (51) de roue de véhicule utilisant un ressort hélicoïdal (52) et une armature souple de retenue et de raccordement (53), qui en position d'ordre de marche, contraint une portion du ressort (52) en le maintenant comprimé, pour obtenir deux courbes de raideurs différentes dont le point d'inflexion est localisé au voisinage de la position en ordre de marche; lors d'une compression, l'ensemble du ressort hélicoïdal (52) est comprimé alors que lors d'une détente, seule la portion non contrainte dudit ressort (52) est décomprimée, la suspension (51) étant asymétrique avec une raideur en détente qui est supérieure à la raideur en compression. Chaque armature (53) est constituée, d'une part, de deux éléments de fixation, l'un (54) coopérant avec tout ou partie d'une spire du ressort hélicoïdal (52), l'autre (56) coopérant soit avec tout ou partie d'une autre spire dudit ressort (52), soit avec le corps de l'amortisseur (59), et d'autre part, d'un élément longitudinal (55), déformable en compression et indéformable en détente, solidaire des deux éléments de fixation, l'armature (53) circonscrivant et contraignant au moins deux spires du ressort hélicoïdal (52).
