A number of seismic stacks are precomputed (20) for known velocity fields. The velocity fields are chosen to span the range of velocities of interest. The stacks are then arranged (21) in the 3D memory of a graphics computer (10-14) using time and position as first dimensions and the index of the velocity field as the last dimension. In such 3D space, any velocity field to be used for stacking appears as a surface (S) within a volume. Projecting the seismic stacks onto that surface provides the seismic line stacked for the velocity field of interest.

L'invention concerne un certain nombre d'empilements sismiques qui sont précalculés (20) pour des champs de vélocité connus. Les champs de vélocité sont choisis afin de couvrir la gamme de vélocités présentant un intérêt. Les empilements sont alors disposés (21) dans la mémoire tridimensionnelle d'un ordinateur graphique (10-14) en utilisant le temps et la position comme premières dimensions et l'indice des champs de vélocité comme dernière dimension. Dans un tel espace tridimensionnel, un champ de vélocité servant à réaliser des empilements apparaît comme une surface (S) à l'intérieur d'un volume. La projection d'empilements sismiques sur cette surface permet de produire la ligne sismique empilée pour le champ de vélocité présentant un intérêt.
