ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A monitor for a newspaper vending machine which records elapsed time from the removal of the last newspaper. The monitor includes an electric clock powered by a circuit which includes first and second switches connected in series. When all newspapers have been sold from the bin of the machine and the display rack, the switches close to activate the clock and record elapsed time. The record of the time elapsed after sellout and before scheduled re- stocking of the machine provides the basis for estimates of additional sales potential and guides the restocking of the machine to optimum levels.
