A vent cap for exhausting gases from an exhaust duct. The vent cap comprising a collar adapted to fit over the exhaust duct and a baffle mounted to the collar. A cover plate is disposed above the collar to laterally deflect exhaust gases. A peripheral wall circumscribes the cover plate, baffle and collar and defines an upper opening with the cover plate and a lower opening with the baffle. The upper and lower openings create an external air flow passage that draws away the laterally directed exhaust gases.
