ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The novel protector mounts directly on the forward (leading) edge of the hood of an automotive vehicle. The device includes a flanges portion adapted to fit closely with and to be fixedly attached to the underside of the hood adjacent to the forward edge. A protector portion extends forwardly from the flange and curves forwardly and upwardly closely with the outer surface of the curved forward edge so as to protect the finish on the hood. A deflector portion extends upwardly and backwardly from the protector portion and is adapted to deflect the airstream so that insects and solid material in the airstream do not strike the windshield or other parts of the vehicle. The novel device includes also in the flange portion, a plurality of channels therethrough permitting air to pass from the front side of the device to the backside when the vehicle is moving forwardly so that a reasonable amount of air pressure is built up permitting the windshield washer and wiper to function efficiently.
