ABSTRACT A plastic can has been disclosed which is designed to retain freshness of the contents and provide, during the lidding operation, an easy placement of the lid thereon; the can has vents which allow the lid to be placed thereon without pneumatic back pressure restraining the lid from properly seating on the can; at the same time, for high speed lid placement certain camming arrangements have been provided to facilitate the lid being placed on the can and being seated properly thereon; considerable improvements in retained content freshness have been observed.
