ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This ventilating device is particularly intended for cable ducts in petrochemical plants. It has a flap (19), which automatically closes on exceeding a predetermined maximum temperature. A closing device and a holding open device cooperating with a release mechanism are associated with flap (19) and are together arranged within a frame-like insert (13). Insert (13) can be fitted into a protective cover recess of a cable duct (4) having a size corresponding to the dimensions of the insert.
