-1- Abstract: The invention relates to a method and apparatus for the temporary ventilation of a room and is especially adapted for the removal of harmful substances during painting or other work in the room. A fan blows air from the room through an inflatable balloon that is placed in an opening, e.g., a window, in a wall of the room. The balloon has at least one exhaust opening to the exterior that is dimensioned so that an overpressure is built up inside the balloon sufficient to keep it inflated and in engagement with the periphery of the opening.
