There is provided a tee fitting having two longitudinal connectors and a single side connector, the longitudinal connectors adapted to be connected to a furnace and a flue stack and the side connector adapted to be connected to a draft regulator, wherein a venturi is formed along an interior of the longitudinal side directly behind the side connector. The tee fitting uses the venturi principal to create a negative pressure directly behind the door of a standard barometric damper when the burner is in operation and the flue gases are flowing to the flue resulting in less bleed air injected into the flue gas stream, higher temperature gas delivered to the base of the flue, and maintainance of proper over the fire pressure. More heat may be extracted by a heat exchanger, increasing the steady state efficiency, while still protecting the flue from condensation. When the appliance is off, the venturi provides a further advantage, in that the draft door remains closed at higher natural flue draft and less room air escapes up the flue, reducing the annual fuel usage.
