A venturi-type fan (10) is composed of a wire basket (32) between front (14) and rear (16) flares. The wire basket has a rear portion to which the motor and fan blade assembly (24) is mounted. The rear flare controls the admission of air into the fan to reduce turbulence and allows the flow of air to be accelerated and directed forward in a slowly diffusing column. The openness of the sides of the present fan reduces the noise generally associated with close- sided venturi fans without degrading air movement characteristics.
Selon cette invention, un ventilateur de type venturi (10) est composé d'un panier en treillis (32) situé entre des rebords avant (14) et arrière (16). Le panier en treillis possède une partie arrière sur laquelle le moteur et l'ensemble (24) pales de ventilateur sont montées. Le rebord arrière commande l'admission d'air dans le ventilateur pour diminuer les turbulences et permet que le flux d'air soit accéléré et dirigé vers l'avant dans une colonne à diffusion lente. L'ouverture des côtés de ce ventilateur permet de diminuer le bruit généralement associé à des ventilateurs venturi à côtés fermés sans dégrader les caractéristiques du mouvement de l'air.
