Abstract The present invention relates to a venturi scrubber for dust-laden gases. The scrubber has an inlet stage which in turn has a gas flow channel which tapers constantly in the direction of the flow, and annular channel for a liquid which is arranged at the end of greatest diameter of the inlet stage. The annular channel is connected around its complete circumference with the channel of the inlet stage through which the gas flows. At least one feed line is provided for the liquid opening, in the main, tangentially into the annular channel. The annular channel which is under pressure, is connected through a passage gap with the channel of the inlet stage through which the gas flows. This pas- sage gap is so configured and arranged that the liquid emerges, in the main, parallel to the adjacent area of the walls of the channel and along these. In this way it is ensured that a thin and even film of liquid flows over the walls of the channel. This film of liquid prevents any deposits of solid particles from build- ing up on the walls and forming encrustations thereon.
