ABSTRACT The invention relates to a dosage form for delivering the beneficial drug verapamil to a biological environment of use, the dosage form comprising: (a) a wall comprising in at least a part a composition comprising a cellulose acylate, which wall is permeable to the passage of fluid, impermeable to the passage of verapamil, and surrounds and forms: (b) a compartment; (c) a dosage amount of verapamil in the compartment, with the proviso that said verapamil is present with mannitol in the compartment in a nonequilibrium ratio of 0.9 to 1.1; and, (d) at least one passageway in the wall connecting the compartment with the exterior of the dosage form for dispensing verapamil to the environment of use over time.
