A method of verifying the authenticity of goods is provided, wherein a set of public data (4, 6, 8) and security code (10) are applied to the goods (2), said security code having been derived from said public data by means of a predetermined encryption algorithm. Upon receiving a request for verification, the public data (4, 6, 8) applied to the goods (2) is entered into the predetermined encryption algorithm to generate a verification code. The verification code is then compared with the security code (10) applied to the goods to assess the authenticity of goods.

L'invention concerne un procédé pour vérifier l'authenticité de produits. Un ensemble de données publiques (4, 6, 8) et un code de sécurité (10) sont associés aux produits (2), ledit code de sécurité étant tiré desdites données publiques au moyen d'un algorithme de cryptage préétabli. Lorsqu'une demande de vérification est reçue, les données publiques (4, 6, 8) associées aux produits (2) sont entrées dans l'algorithme de cryptage préétabli pour générer un code de vérification, lequel est comparé avec le code de sécurité (10) associé aux produits pour déterminer l'authenticité de ces derniers.
