A method of verifying the authenticity of goods includes generating one or more random codes and storing the one or more random codes in a database. The goods are then marked with one of the generated random codes such that each of the goods contain their own unique random code. Upon field checking and inventory of marked goods and comparing the codes on the market goods to codes within the database, the authenticity of goods may be verified. Also, a system for verifying the authenticity of goods includes a database containing a plurality of unique random codes and an indication whether each of the unique random codes has been read, and a code reader or scanner for reading the code affixed to a good. The system further includes a computer apparatus or other electrical mechanism for comparing a read code to the unique random codes contained within the database such that upon comparison the comparing means indicates whether the read code is valid and if valid, whether it has been read previously on another good, thereby indicating the good's authenticity.
L'invention concerne un procédé de vérification de l'authenticité d'articles consistant à générer un ou plusieurs codes aléatoires et à les stocker dans une base de données. Les articles sont ensuite marqués au moyen des codes aléatoires générés de sorte que chacun des articles porte son propre code aléatoire unique. L'authenticité des articles peut être vérifiée en soumettant l'inventaire des articles marqués à un contrôle par champ et en comparant les codes fixés sur les articles marqués aux codes contenus dans la base de données. L'invention concerne également un système permettant de vérifier l'authenticité des articles, lequel système comprend d'une part une base de données renfermant une pluralité de codes aléatoires uniques ainsi qu'une indication permettant de savoir pour chacun des codes aléatoires uniques quels sont ceux qui ont été lus, et d'autre part un lecteur de codes optique destiné à lire les codes fixés sur les articles. Le système comprend en outre un ordinateur ou autre mécanisme électrique servant à comparer un code lu aux codes aléatoires uniques renfermés dans la base de données de manière que lors de la comparaison, les organes de comparaison indiquent si le code lu est valide. Si tel est le cas, ils déterminent si ce code a déjà été lu sur un autre article, attestant ainsi de l'authenticité dudit article.
