A low speed water driven turbine (10) having a housing (12) to be erected upright in a water course, a water intake and a water outlet, a drive shaft (34) rotatably mounted along a central axis of the housing, a shaft sleeve (36) non-rotatably mounted in the housing and supporting and enclosing the shaft, a guide casing (40) of generally bell-like shape and defining a lower edge, the casing being connected to the shaft sleeve within the housing and extending outwardly from the sleeve to define a reduced cross-sectional area within the housing in the region of the guide casing, a turbine blade mounting hub (48) driveably mounted at the lower end of the shaft, a plurality of turbine blades (56) mouted around the hub and extending outwardly therefrom the turbine blades being mounted at angles with respect to the axis of the housing, and being located to receive water from the reduced cross-sectional portion of the casing, so that water passing down through the housing will flow onto and past the turbine blades and cause rotation of the shaft.
L'invention concerne une turbine (10) à faible teneur de charge actionnée par l'eau et présentant un carter (12) conçu pour être placé verticalement selon le sens d'écoulement de l'eau, une arrivée d'eau et une sortie d'eau, un arbre d'entraînement (34) monté de manière rotative le long d'un axe central du carter, un manchon (36) monté de manière non rotative dans le carter, supportant et renfermant l'arbre, une enveloppe de guide (40) en forme de cloche généralement et définissant un bord inférieur. L'enveloppe est reliée au manchon à l'intérieur du carter et se prolonge vers l'extérieur à partir du manchon pour définir une surface transversale à l'intérieur du carter dans la zone de l'enveloppe de guide. La turbine comprend en outre un moyeu (48) de montage d'aube de turbine monté en vue d'un entraînement au niveau de l'extrémité inférieure de l'arbre, une pluralité d'aubes (56) de turbine montées autour du moyeu et se prolongeant vers l'extérieur, les aubes de turbine étant montées de manière à former différents angles par rapport à l'axe du carter et étant placées de manière à recevoir l'eau en provenance de la partie transversale réduite de l'enveloppe, de manière que l'eau s'écoulant vers le bas à travers le carter s'écoule sur et au-delà des aubes de turbine et provoque ainsi la rotation de l'arbre.
