A wind power generator comprises a shaft operatively mounted in a support frame for rotation about a substantially vertical axis. A wing arm is fixedly mounted on the shaft and extends radially outward therefrom. Finally, a windtrap assembly is disposed proximal an outer end of the wing arm. The windtrap assembly includes respective upper and lower windtrap panels pivotably connected to the wing arm. The upper and lower windtrap panels are capable of folding together to cooperatively assume a low-drag configuration when the windtrap assembly is moving in an up-wind direction, and further capable of opening away from each other to cooperatively assume a high-drag configuration when the windtrap assembly is moving in a down-wind direction.
Aérogénérateur qui comporte un arbre monté opérationnel sur un châssis de support en vue de la rotation dudit arbre autour d'un axe essentiellement vertical. Un bras est monté à demeure sur l'arbre et s'étend radialement depuis ledit arbre vers l'extérieur. Enfin, un ensemble piège à vent est placé proximal par rapport à une extrémité externe dudit bras. L'ensemble piège à vent comporte des panneaux de piégeage de vent supérieur et inférieur connectés au bras. Lesdits panneaux sont capables de se fermer l'un vers l'autre de manière à réaliser ensemble une configuration de faible traînée lorsque l'ensemble piège à vent se déplace dans une direction face au vent et sont en outre capables de s'ouvrir en s'éloignant l'un de l'autre pour réaliser ensemble une configuration de forte traînée lorsque l'ensemble piège à vent se déplace sous le vent.
