A vertical shaft windmill in which blades are installed in a plane orthogonal to the vertical rotary shaft and at same angular intervals around the vertical rotary shaft. The blade is formed in a streamline airfoil having a lift coefficient of 1.0 or higher. The blade comprises an opening/closing member the front end of which is pivotally supported on the rear surface of the blade and the rear end of which is opened and closed relative to the blade and an control means for controlling the opening and closing operations of the opening/closing member according to the ratio of the rotational speed of the blade to a wind velocity.
L'invention concerne une éolienne à arbre vertical dans laquelle des pales sont installées dans un plan orthogonal à l'arbre tournant vertical et à des intervalles angulaires identiques autour de l'arbre tournant vertical. La pale est formée d'une surface portante aérodynamique ayant un coefficient de portance de 1,0 ou plus. La pale comporte un élément d'ouverture/fermeture, dont l'extrémité avant est portée à pivotement sur la surface arrière de la pale et dont l'extrémité arrière est ouverte et fermée par rapport à la pale, et un moyen de commande pour commander les opérations d'ouverture et de fermeture de l'élément d'ouverture/fermeture selon le rapport de la vitesse de rotation de la pale à la vitesse du vent.
