ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE With a vertical electric synchronous machine of large diameter a sliding intermediate layer consisting of a plurality of sub-layers is dis- posed between a supporting beam and a segmental ring on each bearing surface of the supporting beams carrying the segmental ring which for their part are secured to the hub body. The sliding intermediate layer contains in the centre two sheets, sliding one above the other, of high mechanical strength, a dry lubricant with a low co-efficient of friction being fixed to the surfaces facing one another. One or a plurality of deformable sheets made of a mater- ial whose yield point lies clearly below the surface pressures occurring on the bearing surfaces are disposed on both outer sides of this sheet pair. These soft sheets even out tolerances of the bearing surfaces through deforma- tion. In addition, a low co-efficient of friction for the relative motion between the segmental ring and the supporting beam is guaranteed by the sheet pair with the dry lubricant.
