An electrosurgical instrument includes a housing having a shaft attached thereto which connects a pair of first and second jaw members such that the jaw members are movable relative to one another to grasp tissue therebetween. The instrument also includes a four-bar handle assembly attached to the housing for actuating a drive rod assembly. The handle assembly includes a handle and a cam-like piston which cooperate to impart a uniform closure pressure against tissue grasped between the jaw members. The instrument also includes a rotating assembly for rotating the jaw members, a knife assembly for separating tissue and a pair of electrical leads connect the jaw members to a source of electrical energy. The electrical leads include slack loops disposed in the rotating assembly which permit rotation of the jaw members about the axis.

L'invention concerne un instrument électrochirurgical comprenant un logement auquel est fixé un arbre qui relie une paire de premiers et seconds éléments de mâchoires mobiles les uns par rapport aux autres pour saisir le tissu entre eux. L'instrument comprend également une liaison mécanique à quatre éléments fixée au logement et destinée à actionner un ensemble tige d'entraînement. L'ensemble poignée comporte une poignée et un piston de type came qui coopèrent de manière à imprimer une pression de fermeture uniforme contre le tissu saisi entre lesdits éléments. L'instrument comporte en outre un ensemble rotatif qui fait tourner les éléments de mâchoires, un ensemble couteau pour séparer les tissus et une paire de fils électriques reliant les éléments de mâchoires à une alimentation électrique. Ces fils comportent des boucles lâches disposés dans l'ensemble rotatif qui permet de faire tourner ces éléments autour de l'axe.
