An electrosurgical instrument includes a housing having a shaft attached thereto which connects a pair of first and second jaw members in an opposing manner relative to one another. The jaw members are movable relative to one another from a first open position wherein the jaw members are disposed in spaced relation relativ e to one another to a second closed position wherein the jaw members cooperate to trasp tissue therebetween. The instrument also includes a handle which imparts movement of the first and second jaw members from the first and second positions and a rotating assembly for rotating the jaw members about a longitudinal axis defined through the shaft. A pair of electrical leads connect the jaw members to a source of electrical energy such that the jaw members are capable of conducting energy through tissue held therebetween. The leads include a slack-like loop disposed in the rotating assembly which permits rotation of the jaw members about the longitudinal axis without unduly straining the electrical leads.

L'invention concerne un instrument électrochirurgical comprenant un logement auquel est fixé un arbre qui relie une paire de premiers et seconds éléments de mâchoires de manière opposée les uns par rapports aux autres. Ces éléments se déplacent les uns par rapport aux autres d'une première position ouverte, où ils sont disposés à distance les uns des autres, vers une seconde position fermée, où ils coopèrent de façon à saisir le tissu entre eux. L'instrument comprend également un ensemble poignée qui permet de déplacer les premiers et seconds éléments de mâchoires de la première et de la seconde positions, ainsi qu'un ensemble rotatif qui fait tourner lesdits éléments autour d'un axe longitudinal traversant l'arbre. Une paire de fils électriques relie les éléments de mâchoires à une source électrique, ce qui permet auxdits éléments de conduire de l'énergie à travers le tissu qu'ils tiennent. Ces fils comportent notamment une boucle du type lâche disposée en un ensemble rotatif qui permet la rotation des éléments de mâchoires autour de l'axe longitudinal sans tendre inutilement les fils électriques.
