ABSTRACT Vibration damping compositions are provided which comprise an epoxy resin (I), obtained by addition reaction of a bisphenol type resin (a) with a cyclic ester (c) at the (c)/(a) weight ratio of from 20/80 to 98/2, and a curing agent (II). The compositions are further characterized in that the (II)/(I) equivalent weight ratio of said epoxy resin (I) and said curing agent (II) is in the range of from 0.6 to 1.4. This epoxy resin (I) makes it possible to scrupulously lower the glass transition temperature of a cured product formed therefrom, i.e. a vibration damper, by changing the amount of the cyclic ester (c) used in preparation of said epoxy resin (I). The resulting vibration damper has lesser amounts of volatile components and has superior mechanical strength, service durability and moldability.
