A single axis rate sensor including a substantially planar vibratory resonator (1) having a substantially ring or hoop-like structure with inner and outer peripheries (1a, 1b) extending around a common axis (z) drive means (6) for causing the resonator (1) to vibrate in a Cos2.theta. vibration mode, carrier mode pick-off means (7) for sensing movement of the resonator (1) in response to said drive means pick-off means (9) for detecting Sin2.theta. vibration mode motion induced by rotation around the Z-axis, Sin2.theta. vibration mode drive means (8) for nulling said motion and support means (2) for flexibly supporting the resonator (1) and for allowing the resonator (1) to vibrate relative to the support means (2) in response to the drive means, or to applied rotation wherein the support means comprises only L support beams, where L .noteq. 2K, and K = 0, 1, 2 or 3.

L'invention concerne un détecteur de vitesse à axe unique, qui comprend un résonateur (1) vibratoire sensiblement plane présentant une structure de type anneau ou collier dont les pourtours (1a, 1b) intérieur et extérieur s'étendent autour d'un axe commun (z) ; des moyens (6) de commande destinés à faire vibrer le résonateur (1) en mode vibration cos2.theta. ; des moyens (7) de détection de mode porteur pour détecter les mouvements du résonateur (1) en réponse aux moyens de commande ; des moyens (9) de détection des mouvements du résonateur en mode vibration sin2.theta., produits par la rotation autour de l'axe z ; des moyens (8) de commande de mode vibration sin2.theta. pour supprimer lesdits mouvements ; et des moyens supports (2) pour soutenir de manière flexible le résonateur (1) et permettre à celui-ci (1) de vibrer par rapport aux moyens (2) supports, en réponse aux moyens de commande ou à la rotation appliquée. Les moyens (16) supports ne comprennent que des bras supports en L ; L 2?K¿, et K = 1, 2 ou 3.
