A improvement to video compression techniques is described in which blocks of video input information are compared in their respective pixel values to corresponding blocks of immediately preceding frames. The blocks are analyzed to determine whether change has occurred in accordance with two tests. First, the pixel values of the block are compared to the pixel values of a preceding block and if a threshold number of pixel values in the block exceed their counterparts by a threshold amount, then the block is assumed to have changed and is communicated via a standard communication protocol, compression technique and media. Second, even if the threshold number of pixels in the block has not changed, the pixel values are compared with their prior frame counterparts to determine if any one pixel value has changed in magnitude more than a second threshold amount. Again, one such pixel is identified, then the block is assumed to have changed and is communicated.
L'invention concerne des techniques améliorées de compression vidéo consistant à comparer des blocs d'informations d'entrée vidéo selon leurs valeurs respectives de pixel à des blocs correspondants des trames immédiatement précédentes. Les blocs sont analysés afin de déterminer l'apparition d'une modification éventuelle en fonction de deux contrôles. Ceci consiste à d'abord comparer les valeurs de pixel du bloc aux valeurs de pixel du bloc précédent et si un nombre de seuil de valeurs de pixel du bloc dépasse leurs contreparties d'une quantité seuil, le bloc est estimé avoir subi une modification et est communiqué par l'intermédiaire d'un protocole de communication standard, d'une technique de compression et de média. Ceci consiste ensuite à comparer les valeurs de pixel, même si le nombre de seuil de pixels du bloc n'a pas changé, à leurs contreparties de la trame précédente afin de déterminer si l'intensité de toute valeur de pixel s'est modifiée selon une quantité supérieure à un deuxième seuil. On identifie à nouveau ce type de pixel et on estime que le bloc s'est modifié et à été communiqué.
