ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A video mixer for providing video signals to be displayed on a monitor, which signals may be derived from a character generator and an external video source. The mixer can route character generator video or external video only to the monitor. The mixer may also on command mix these two signals to provide a combined output signal. The mixer has the further capability of deriving horizontal and vertical blanking signals from an incoming synchronization signal and providing them to the character generator for synchronization.
