A video peripheral board (10) for providing video I/O to a host computer (12). The video peripheral board (10) further comprises: a video I/O port (35), a bus interface circuit (42), an audio I/O part (62), a command and status queue (64), a sub-sampler and color space converter (80), a video bus (38), a peripheral data bus (40) and a microprocessor (48). The bus interface circuit (42) is configured to connect the video peripheral board (10) into a system bus (46) of the host computer (12), and it is capable of becoming bus master of the system bus. The microprocessor (48) is configured to control the bus interface circuit (42) to effect transfer of video data in real time between the video I/O port (35) and a storage (24) of the host computer.
